Hair Colourants - How they Work |
Temporary Colour
- Applied to damp hair when cuticle open.
- Large colour molecule lodges in between cuticle scales.
- Cuticle closes when dried locking in colour.
- Colour removed at next shampoo.

|
Semi-Permanent Colour
- Applied to damp hair.
- Colour molecule small enough to penetrate through cuticle to outside edge of cortex.
- The absorbent fibre holds molecules through several shampoos gradually fading out according to the strength of product and condition of the hair.
|
Tone on Tone Colour
- Applied to damp hair.
- No Ammonia - no lift.
- Mixed with mild oxidant.
- Permanent colour molecule formed when mixed with oxidant.
- Penetrates into cortex.
- Very little disturbance of natural pigment.
- During development colour molecule grows and becomes correct tone and depth of colour chosen.
